Hallelujah

I once was lost in darkest night Yet thought I knew the way The sin that promised joy and life Had led me to the grave I had no hope that You would own A rebel to Your will And if You had not loved me first I would refuse You still But as I ran my hell-bound race Indifferent to the cost You looked upon my helpless state And led me to the cross And I beheld God’s love displayed You suffered in my place You bore the wrath reserved for me Now all I know is grace Hallelujah! All I have is Christ Hallelujah! Jesus is my life Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone And live so all might see The strength to follow Your commands Could never come from me Oh Father, use my ransomed life In any way You choose And let my song forever be My only boast is You

How deep the Father's love

Image
In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. Proverbs 16:9 NIV How deep the Father's love for us, How vast beyond all measure That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure How great the pain of searing loss, The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the chosen One, Bring many sons to glory Behold the Man upon a cross, My sin upon His shoulders Ashamed I hear my mocking voice, Call out among the scoffers It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished I will not boast in anything No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ His death and resurrection Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom

All you even wanted

Image
I just looked up today And realized how far away I am from where You are You gave me life worth dying for But between the altar and the door I bought the lies that promised more And here I go again Lord, I know I let You down But somehow, I will make You proud I'll turn this sinking ship around And make it back to You But all my deeds and my good name Are just dirty rags that tear and strain To cover all my guilty stains That You already washed away 'Cause All You've ever wanted,  All You've ever wanted was my heart Freedom's arms are open, my chains have all been broken Relentless love has called me from the start And all You wanted was my heart I was chasing healing when I'd been made well I was fighting battles when You conquered hell Living free but from a prison cell Lord, I lay it down today So I'll stop living off of how I feel And start standing on Your truth revealed Jesus is my strength, my shield And He will never fail me No more chains, I'...

You were always there

Image
I remember the moment, I remember the pain I was only a girl, but I grew up that day Tears were falling I know You saw me Hiding there in my bedroom, so alone I was doing my best, trying to be strong No one to turn to That's when I met You All this time, from the first tear cried 'Till today's sunrise And every single moment between You were there, You were always there It was You and I You've been walking with me all this time Ever since that day, it's been clear to me That no matter what comes, You will never leave I know You're FOR me And You're restoring Every heartache and failure, every broken dream You're the God who sees, the God who rescued me This is my story I felt love, I felt Your grace You stole my heart that day

Come as you are

Image
Come out of sadness From wherever you've been Come broken hearted Let rescue begin Come find your mercy Oh sinner come kneel Earth h as no sorrow That heaven can't heal Earth has no sorrow That heaven can't heal So lay down your burdens Lay down your shame All who are broken Lift up your face Oh wanderer come home You're not too far So lay down your hurt Lay down your heart Come as you are There's hope for the hopeless And all those who've strayed Come sit at the table Come taste the grace There's rest for the weary Rest that endures Earth has no sorrow That heaven can't cure

You are Wanted

Image
From the day you were born And took your first breath You opened your eyes and in came the light He was watching you But all of your life you couldn't shake the lies in your head Saying you're a mistake Oh but you were made By a God who knows your name He doesn't make mistakes You are wanted To every broken heart, He stands with open arms You are wanted To every searching soul, look to the rising sun If you're lonely, hurting, gone too far To the outcast you come as you are For you, you are wanted, you, you are wanted Let this be the day that joy takes the place Of all of the years that shame tried to steal away He is calling you Lift your eyes to see His face Come run into the arms of grace You, you have been marked You're set apart And He calls you His So you don't have to search Don't have to look for where you belong tands with open arms

Tears of joy are like the summer rain drops pierced by sunbeams. You must submit to supreme suffering in order to discover the completion of joy. Joy has nothing to do with material things, or with a man's outward circumstance ... a man living in the lap of luxury can be wretched, and a man in the depths of poverty can overflow with joy.     Author: William Barclay Joy is not necessarily the absence of suffering, it is the presence of God.     Author: Sam Storms True joy comes only from God and He shares this joy with those who walk in fellowship with Him.     Author: Jerry Bridges

Weight of glory-C s Lewis.

We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by an offer of a holiday at the sea.  We are far too easily pleased

I'm Alive

Image
When I was locked inside my head When I was lost in a maze of doubt You called my name and woke me up You called my name and led me out And when I chased one more mirage 'Til I was tired and parched again You gave me one more cup to fill And sent me one more desert rain I'm alive, I'm on fire And my spirit burns with desire You set me alive, bright-eyed And with no way to hold it inside I wanted to thank You Thank You, thank You I was sure of all I knew I knew the world was mine to claim I had directions printed out And then I hit a wall of shame Out there alone and left to die Cut off from You, my sole supply You shed Your tears for me and then You took my hand and raised me high I'm alive, I'm on fire And my spirit burns with desire You set me alive, bright-eyed And with no way to hold it inside I wanted to thank You Thank You, thank You

Steady My Heart

Image
Wish it could be easy Why is life so messy Why is pain a part of us There are days I feel like Nothing ever goes right Sometimes it just hurts so much But You're here You're real I know I can trust You Even when it hurts Even when it's hard Even when it all just falls apart I will run to You Cause I know that You are Lover of my soul Healer of my scars You steady my heart I'm not gonna worry I know that You got me Right inside the palm of your hand Each and every moment What's good and what gets broken Happens just the way that You plan And I will run to You You're my refuge in Your arms And I will sing to You Cause of everything You are You steady my heart

He Giveth More Grace

Image
He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater, He sendeth more strength as our labors increase; To added afflictions He addeth His mercy, To multiplied trials He multiplies peace. When we have exhausted our store of endurance, When our strength has failed ere the day is half done, When we reach the end of our hoarded resources Our Father’s full giving is only begun. Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision, Our God ever yearns His resources to share; Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing; The Father both thee and thy load will upbear. His love has no limits, His grace has no measure, His power no boundary known unto men; For out of His infinite riches in Jesus He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again. ~Annie J. Flint

Be thou my vision

Image
by   Eleanor Hull , 1912; this version was popularized by virtue of its place in the   English Hymnal Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart, Be all else but naught to me, save that thou art; Be thou my best thought in the day and the night, Both waking and sleeping, thy presence my light. Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word, Be thou ever with me, and I with thee Lord; Be thou my great Father, and I thy true son; Be thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one. Be thou my breastplate, my sword for the fight; Be thou my whole armour, be thou my true might; Be thou my soul's shelter, be thou my strong tower: O raise thou me heavenward, great Power of my power. Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise: Be thou mine inheritance now and always; Be thou and thou only the first in my heart; O Sovereign of Heaven, my treasure thou art. High King of Heaven, thou Heaven's bright sun, O grant me its joys after victory is won!; Great heart of my own heart, whatever ...

Thought of the Day

Image
There's a time to live And a time to die There's a time to laugh And a time to cry There's a time for war And a time for peace There's a hand to hold In the worst of these He is with you when your faith is dead And you can't even get out of bed Or your husband doesn't kiss you anymore He is with you when your baby's gone And your house is still and your heart's a stone Cryin' God, what'd you do that for? He is with you And he is with you in the ICU When the doctors don't know what to do And it scares you to the core He is with you We may weep for a time But joy will come in the morning The morning light He is with you when your kids are grown When there's too much space and you feel alone And you're worried if you got it right or wrong Yes he is with you when you've given up On ever finding your true love Someone who feels like home He is with you When nothing else is left And you take you final breath He is with you

Thought of the day

Image
We went sailing in the storm And it was harder than we dreamed But I believe that's what the promise is for To lose your life for another I've heard Is a good place to begin So when I lose my way, find me When I loose love's chains, bind me At the end of all my faith, till the end of all my days When I forget my name, remind me 'Cause we bear the light of the Son of Man So there's nothing left to fear So I'll walk with you in the shadowlands Till the shadows disappear

From a Soldier in the Vietnam war

Image
Lord God I have never spoken to you, But now I want to say how do you do, You see God they told me you don't exist, And like a fool I believed all this, Last night from a shell-hole I saw your sky, I figured right then they had told me a lie, Had I taken time to see the things you made, I'd have known they weren't calling a spade a spade, I wonder God if you'll take my hand, Somehow I fell that you'll understand, Funny I had to come to this hellish place, Before I had time to see your face, Well I guess there isn't much more to say, But I'm sure glad God that I met you today, I guess zero hour will soon be here, But I'm not afraid since I know you're near, The signal - Well God I'll have to go, I like you lots I want you to know, Look how this would be a horrible fight, Who knows I may come to your house tonight, Though I wasn't friendly to you before, I wonder God if you'd wait at your door, Look I'm crying I'm shedding tears...

Poem of the week

Image
First dentistry was painless; Then bicycles were chainless And carriages were horseless And many laws, enforceless. Next, cookery was fireless, Telegraphy was wireless, Cigars were nicotineless And coffee, caffeineless. Soon oranges were seedless, The putting green was weedless, The college boy hatless, The proper diet, fatless, Now motor roads are dustless, The latest steel is rustless, Our tennis courts are sodless, Our new religions, godless. - Arthur Guiterman

C. S. Lewis

Image
"A perfect man would never act from a sense of duty; he’d always want the right thing more than the wrong one. Duty is only a substitute for love (of God and of other people) like a crutch which is a substitute for a leg. Most of us need the crutch at times; but of course it is idiotic to use the crutch when our own legs (our own loves, tastes, habits etc.) can do the journey on their own." ( Letters of C. S. Lewis /1966, p. 277)

Quote of the day

Image
"One cannot see well except with the heart, The essential is invisible to the eyes. It is the time you have spent with your rose that makes your rose so important" "That is the hardest thing of all. It is much harder to judge yourself than to judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself, it's because you're truly a wise man." "Language is the source of misunderstandings." "You risk tears if you let yourself be tamed. " "People where you live," the little prince said, "grow five thousand roses in one garden... yet they don't find what they're looking for..." "You're lovely, but you're empty," he went on. "One couldn't die for you. Of course an ordinary passerby would think my rose looked just like you. But my rose, all on her own, is more important than you altogether, since she's the one I've watered. Since she's the one I put under glass. Since she's the one I she...

Quote of the day

Image
The secret to success is to be like a duck: smooth and unruffled on the top, but paddling furiously underneath. We tend to use people and love things when we should be loving people and use things Everybody's friend is nobody The best mirror is an old friend A true friend is someone who thinks you are a good egg even though they know you are slightly cracked A real friend is one who walks in when the world walks out Friends are gods way of apologizing for our families

Dylan Dylan Contest- Dangerous minds

Image
I will not go down under the ground 'Cause somebody tells me that death's coming 'round And I will not carry myself down to die When I go to my grave, my head will be high ~Bob Dylan Do not go gentle into that good night Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce t...
